WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT DOES
The HPN Health Risk Appraisal computer program is made available on a CD. Included are all supporting materials
such as the Word files containing the Midlife and Older Adult HRA questionnaires (in English and Spanish) as well as the computational
program itself. The questionnaires are filled out by a participant, the data are then entered into the program, and
individual and group reports can then be produced.

TYPES OF REPORTS
INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT REPORTS
The Midlife HRA report, to be returned
to the individual
participant, is a mortality based report. It gives estimates
for those causes of death for which the participant is at
highest risk. It is a quantitative report with recommendations
for life style changes that will reduce their risks.
The Young Adult HRA report is the same
as the Midlife
HRA report but, in addition, has several pages of
information on high risk areas for individuals in the
18 to 35 age group. These include motor vehicle accidents,
homicide, suicide, and HIVAIDS.
The HEALTHY LIVING Older Adult report includes
the
midlife HRA report, but in addition includes risk estimates
in the areas of morbidity and functional status. The format
of the report is a graphic and verbal report. It includes the
option for the elderly participant to select topics of interest
from a list of the National Institute on Aging AGE PAGES.
GROUP REPORTS
A Group Report that
summarizes the risk responses for a
batch of HRA participants. This enhances the ability of the
User of the HRA program to set priorities for intervention
programs designed to reduce health risks for the population
of interest.
A Group Report option that allows the combining
of
various batches of participants.
A summary report of questionnaire responses.
An export function that allows the HRA
User to export the
questionnaire responses and the elderly risk estimates to an
Excel file for research purposes.
